Jan 13: Dad bringing me Jimmy Johns. Pretty views. Monk (been looking forward to it for days – wanting it for months. Yaaaaaas). Jesus, every day. Moving to CO 26 years ago.
Jan 14: Grateful for friends and fellowship and laughter and openness at small group. For trust in God even in the crap.
Jan 15: Trying to maintain a good outlook while things aren’t great/what I want. Thankful for life in general. God has a plan for me, even if I don’t like it.
Jan 16: Friday! Cloudy, cool morning – it was the best temp (other than cold and snowy).
Jan 17: Saturday spent at Palmer Park, knitting, and watching Monk, + family.
Jan 18: Aerosmith on the radio! (By that I mean one of my middle school favorites, Don't Wanna Miss A Thing.) Football. Deer. Family dinner with everyone.
Jan 19: Beautiful weather.
Jan 20: Large computer screen for working at home (and figuring out how to make both screens work).
Jan 21: Snowflakes on my scarf (but…not the large amount of snow). Hearing Peterson music in the morning/at night (they play Reveille at 7am every day, and Taps at 10pm each night, and even though they're across town we can still hear it here. I love it).
Jan 22: Peanut butter in dogs' mouths. Mug warmer because I'm a slow coffee drinker. Monk. Having a good chair to sit in when I'm forced to work from home.
Jan 23: Going to the chiropractor for the first time since August. The Score with Edmund somebody, especially when it’s a John Williams episode, especially when I’m driving to meet a lovely, wonderful friend for coffee after a long week.
Jan 24: Knitting a Jayne hat. CS Philharmonic/music in general, but especially when it's one of my favorite pieces - Bolero.
Jan 25: Planes flying in formation during our morning walk (benefit of living in the same city as the Air Force Academy - we get to see them practice randomly sometimes). Sunsets. Deer frolicking in the fields.
Jan 26: Deer on our walk. Lots of them, just wandering around.
Jan 27: Nice, springy weather. Going into work late, and having fun people to work with after-hours.
Jan 28: … Long pants (esp dress pants). Pants with pockets (esp dress pants). Knitting. The ability to look forward to getting together with friends without worrying about snow issues… Protein balls.
Jan 29: Headache-fixing walks in cool, crisp air. Deer. (I love those deer.) Nutmeg. :)
Jan 30: Having a day off! Even if I had to take a day so I could take my car in and end up paying a whole lotta moneys and whatnot. But still. Day off.
Jan 31: Going to the zoo with Cathy and the nephews. Being able to pay the whole lotta moneys for my car out of savings (and thankful for my parents for allowing me to have savings for the first time in most of my adult life), little savings as it is.
February!!!
Feb 1: Harry Potter (I did a Name the Top 50 Characters quiz and it was aggravating and took me forever but was so fun. I love that series so much). Super Bowl (yay Patriots!) and family time. Lots of deer sightings.
Feb 2: New calendar pictures (especially the baby elk picture on my elk calendar). Groundhog Day! (The movie. Don't really care one way or the other about the holiday beyond that.)
Feb 3: Little brudder. (It's his birthday!)
Feb 4: Young adult group/friends. (As I'm thankful for every Wednesday, because sometimes it's the highlight of my week.) St. Anthony helping me find my knitting needles! Like he helps me find everything. (But this one was particularly awesome: I kept looking and looking and looking, and ended up finding them in a box with a children's book about St. Anthony. He just makes me laugh.)
Feb 5: Ice cream. (I mean, really. This should be an every day happiness.) Especially pistachio almond ice cream. One of the best.
Feb 6: Lovely weather. Lovely, lovely weather. Springtime in winter, and I appreciate that a whole heck of a lot especially this winter.
Feb 7: Walking the dogs, getting sprayed by a sprinkler and still finding unmelted patches of snow in various shadows along the way for the dogs to eat, because they love doing that.
Feb 8: FINISHING the BLANKET. Faaaaaabulous. Also, Nutmeg.
Feb 9: ...weeeeeellllllll...Oh, a friend announced her engagement, a friend for whom I'm really happy. (Not that I'm not normally when I see those types of things, but. It's complicated.)
Feb 10: Watching LOST again. Memories of the big snowstorm in DC five years ago, when our power went out and we had to ship off to a couple of friends' houses. Starting up a knitting project after a year's hiatus (thanks to previous blanket). Pretty blue skies.
Feb 11: Fun coworkers, good friends, my parents. Snow. New calendar (a perpetual calendar, a knitting stitch a day!)
Feb 12: Having overtime offered just when I have a new car expense come up (and no longer having the savings bubble).
Feb 13: Realizing that my hands have yet to get so dry and cracked that they start bleeding and don't heal for days or longer - this is the first winter in years I haven't had to worry about that (even the years I lived in non-dry climates, my hands would crack almost immediately upon stepping off the plane when I visited Colorado in the winter). Humidifier every night, moisturizer + gloves on my hand every night, and good moisturizer to use throughout the day. It's been wonderful. There's still some dryness, but nothing it usually is.
Feb 14: Seeing other knitters in public, at a handbell choir concert in which my dad was performing. I saw one knitter in one of the choirs, knitting away until the thing started, and then I saw another knitter across the hall, working on her project throughout the thing like I was. Solidarity, man.
Feb 15: Having lots of fun little knit squares for a baby blanket I'm making for a coworker's daughter (technically, I guess, for her granddaughter). It will not be so much fun when I have to sew together all 25, but I'm not there yet so I can pretend I don't have to do that. Also thankful for stupid cheesy movies (I saw Old Fashioned. It was stupid and cheesy and whatnot, but sometimes it's just nice to watch a movie knowing I don't have to worry about what'll be in it or that I have to brace myself for something).
Feb 16: Snow (except also not grateful for it. At all). Slow nights at work. Catching up on the new episodes of Parks and Rec, while knitting away on more baby blanket squares.
Feb 17: Parents (dinners, etc). Pretty mountains because of yesterday's snow and today's bright blue sky. Slow nights again, good coworkers. NOT having a snow day. Opportunity to practice patience. With the IRS. Who is, once again, forcing me to wait longer to get my tax refund because someone keeps using my SSN. Lame.
Feb 18: Wearing a pretty outfit. Beginning of Lent! Lots of incense at Ash Wednesday Mass (I lurrrrrve incense!).
Feb 19: Today's word of the day - catachresis - the use of the wrong word for the context; use of a forced and especially paradoxical figure of speech. I just like it. Don't know why. Also today's entry for my other tear-off daily calendar. It's just a funny story.
Feb 20: Coworkers. I do like them.
Feb 21: My older brother. Quiche. Band of Brothers. Bright snowy nights and warm blankets.
Feb 22: Facebook! (So sad that that's true.) The ability to get to Mass today, even though I didn't go to my regular parish which is across town. I was still able to go, and yay for that. One of the benefits of being Catholic - it'd take a lot for Mass to get canceled - and if Mass at one church gets canceled, there's a good bet other churches will still have Mass. :)
